The First Steps to Take in a Personal Injury Case

Inicio>Personal Injury Attorney

There are a few things you should do immediately after suffering a personal injury. These can help with making your case go as simply and smoothly as possible. Here are a few of the first steps you should take when you pursue a personal injury case.

Get Medical Treatment

First and foremost, seek proper medical treatment. In an emergency, call an ambulance. The other details of a personal injury case can be determined after you and any others involved in the accident are safe. Be sure to keep any evidence of medical expenses, these will be useful in proving your claim.

Contact the Police

The police must be contacted whenever an accident results in an injury or damage to property. The police report will be vital in documenting the accident. In many cases, the police report will also specify fault, which should simplify your case.

Retain an Injury Lawyer

Injury law can be a complicated area to understand. An experienced injury lawyer will be necessary in successfully pursuing your personal injury case. They can allow you to receive compensation for medical expenses, loss of wages, and even pain and suffering. Obtain the services of a lawyer who specializes in personal injury law.

Initial Demand Letter

Before the case proceeds further, your attorney will draft an initial demand letter. This letter will outline the facts of the case from your viewpoint as well as notify the potential defendant that you intend to pursue a claim. After the initial demand letter has been sent, the case may proceed.

In many cases, you may want to attempt an early resolution, because litigation can become exceedingly costly. Depending on the amount of money involved in the case, an early resolution might be the most beneficial for most parties. Your attorney can help you determine which solution is right for you.

An experienced personal law attorney can make all the difference in your personal injury case. For more information about personal injury law, or to obtain the best legal representation for your personal injury case, contact us at LeBaron & Jensen today!

Whether you’re traveling to see extended family or enjoying a nice vacation, the holidays are the busiest time for travel. The increased amount of travelers also increases the amount of accidents. Preparation can keep you and your family safe over the holidays.

Important Tips for Safe Holiday Driving

A few precautions can be taken to decrease your family’s travel related risks. An accident is the last thing you want to experience while on your vacation.

Maintenance

Have your vehicle inspected thoroughly before you leave on your trip. This is particularly important if you intend to travel for long distances. Make any necessary repairs prior to your vacation. Consider replacing tires with worn out treads, or using snow tires when conditions might be less than ideal.

Roadside Assistance

Gather the phone number and any additional information about an applicable roadside assistance service before leaving. Ensure that cell phones are charged in case of an emergency. Consider packing a battery pack in case your phone runs low on battery. Keep extra blankets and water in the back of your car.

Adequate Sleep

Go to bed early the night before you leave. Drowsy driving contributes to many accidents. Make sure you take an appropriate amount of rests during long drives. Pull into a safe rest stop if you become drowsy, or take turns driving.

Defensive Driving

Use defensive driving techniques during your travels. Watch for other vehicles and avoid situations that might result in accidents. Intoxicated driving incidents also increase over the holidays, so keep an eye out for signs that other drivers may be intoxicated.

Ensure the safety of your family during this holiday season and take precautions to make travel as risk-free as possible. Obey all speed limits; getting to your destination slightly later is better than not arriving at all. Enjoy your holiday season and stay safe!

Not all accidents are preventable. If you need superior legal representation for a personal injury case involving an automobile accident, contact LeBaron & Jensen today!

According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), approximately 4.7 million dog bites occur in the United States each year. Dog bites can result in big lawsuits, so here are a few tips for preventing them. Many states don’t even require that previous aggression be proved in the dog and there are few cases where you can claim the victim provoked the dog. In any case, prevention is the best way to go.

Secure Your Pooch

Ensure that your dog is properly secured. Keep fences in good repair to prevent potential escapes. Keep your dog leashed and controlled by a responsible person whenever he/she is not fenced in or behind closed doors. Do not allow your children to take the dog for a walk alone, and never leave young children alone with a dog. Children may not understand what might provoke the dog into biting, even if the dog has never shown any aggressive tendencies. Make sure your dog’s leash is less than 6 feet, so that you can control the dog. Anything longer might compromise your control. Consider using a muzzle in situations where your dog might feel overwhelmed or be provoked into biting.

Obey All Applicable Laws

Obey leashing laws, licensing laws, and any other laws your state might have. Make sure that your pet is up to date on vaccinations. Spay or neuter your dog. Studies show that dogs that have not been neutered are much more likely to bite than those that have been fixed.

Training

Take your dog to obedience training. Practice consistently with your dog, so that you know he/she will follow orders in potentially dangerous situations. Socialize your pet, so that they will do well when interacting with new people and other dogs. Socialization is one of the most important things you can do for your pet.

Daily Interactions

Don’t play aggressive games with your dog, such as wrestling or tug-of-war. Only play non-aggressive games, like fetch. Learn your dog’s body language. You should be able to tell when he/she is feeling overwhelmed, scared, etc. You should also know how to react accordingly to these changes in your dog’s body language.

Insurance

Check with your home insurance policy and make sure that your dog is covered. In the event of a bite, you’ll want to make sure you are protected. If your dog has bitten someone previously, some insurance companies may refuse to cover them, or will require you to take them to classes to continue insuring them.

The best way to protect yourself from a Dog Bite lawsuit is to prevent it from happening in the first place. If you need affordable, superior legal representation due to a Dog Bite case, contact LeBaron & Jensen today.
